Malcolm Jenkins on CNN: Football is "nonessential" business

Saints safety Malcolm Jenkins is one of the more outspoken players in the NFL. As a 12-year NFL vet, and a two-time Super Bowl Champion, he's got some cache around the league.

Yesterday on CNN, he shared his thoughts about the league's possible, if not probable, return.

I'm sure Jenkins is going to get crushed for voicing this opinion.

"HE'S A MILLIONAIRE ATHLETE! SUCK IT UP!"

I'm surprised more players haven't shared similar thoughts.

The NFL has a documented history of not giving a shit about player safety. Any rules meant to enhance the protection of the athletes were implemented out of the leagues fear of being sued, not about the actual wellbeing of the players.

So, forgive me if I've got some empathy here.

I'm sure the NFL will cover its ass and have players sign waivers. I'm sure the majority of players will assume all the risks involved with playing in the midst of a pandemic.

However, if a player wants to opt out of playing under these conditions, I totally get that.
