Mark Dantonio is out at Michigan State. The rumor is that the university wants to hire Cincinnati's Luke Fickell.
If that doesn't work out, some have suggested that they could circle back to their old defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi.
Would Pitt fans even miss Narduzzi if he did take the job? They shouldn't.
Narduzzi's defense finally lived up to his reputation this year. But overall, his results as the head man have been average at best.
His high water mark at Pitt is 8-5. He's done that three separate times. His teams have faded down the stretch in each of the last two seasons. Pitt fell from 7-4 in 2018 to 7-7, and from 7-3 this year to 8-5.
He's 36-29 in his career in Oakland. Eh.
Pitt fans shouldn't wish for Narduzzi to be hired away. Starting over in collegiate athletics is never fun. However, if he does get poached, Pitt fans should merely shrug their shoulders.
