Randy Fichtner is doing a good job

Fans think Randy Fichtner isn't good at his job.

It's almost like fans don't know what they're watching, so they blame the offensive coordinator. It's like blaming the goalie in hockey.

Last season, the Steelers were the number one red zone team in the NFL. Under Todd Haley, the Steelers were bad in that area. Did Fichtner forget how to coach from one year to another?

No. Randy is coaching with one hand tied behind his back. He doesn't have AB, Ben, James Conner, or JuJu Smith-Schuster. He's calling plays for a quarterback who went undrafted out of Samford.

He's devising game plans around Kerrith Whyte and Deon Cain.

Devlin Hodges should be graded on a curve. So should Randy Fichtner. If the Steelers have a late lead and their defense is on the field, then Fichtner did his job. If the Steelers win the turnover battle, then Fichtner did his job.

So far so good. Steelers fans need to get off his back.
