Devlin Hodges HAS to start against the Cleveland Browns.
Mason Rudolph had the worst game of his NFL career against Cleveland on Thursday Night Football. He was accused of using a racial slur against Myles Garrett. An accusation that he said was a lie. It may have been the worst week of Mason Rudolph's life.
Nobody could or should blame him for the game he played against the Bengals, but it happened. We all saw it with our own two eyes. He wasn't good.
Sheldon Richardson of the Browns said they're hoping to see Mason Rudolph on Sunday. Of course they are. A.) He didn't scare them the first time around. B.) They (wrongly) believe that Mason Rudolph started the "fight" against Garrett and they want revenge.
Don't give the Browns what they want.
Plus, I think think that Rudolph wasn't mentally prepared to play against Cincy, and it's safe to assume that he wouldn't be up to the task to play Cleveland.
It's also clear now that Devlin Hodges gives this banged up Steelers team a better chance to win than Rudolph does. He threw a strike to James Washington that was the difference against the Bengals. He's also more mobile and can extend plays.
When you're as injured as the Steelers are offensively, you need a QB that can create. I think Hodges is better in that area. I also think you're asking tossing Rudolph to the dogs if you tell him that he's starting on Sunday.
Let. The. Duck. Chuck.
