The Pirates entered the weekend 2.5 games out of first place. After being outscored 22-10 in a three-game sweep, the Pirates are now 5.5 games behind the Cubs.
Coming into the series, the Pirates had actually won more games than they had lost against NL Central foes. That's no longer the case. The Bucs are 18-20 in their division games this year. If they want to contend in the Central, they'll obviously have to be better against the Central.
The good news, maybe (?), is that they'll play 33 more division games. If they can take advantage, they'll have a shot. If they do what they've done to this point, it will be another October without baseball in the 'Burgh.
