The Penguins are better than the Islanders. Sidney Crosby has 100 points while Matt Barzal has 62. Jake Guentzel, Phil Kessel, and Kris Letang all averaged more points per game than the Islanders leading scorer.
Nick Leddy is a good player, but he's no Kris Letang. Hell, he's no Brian Dumoulin.
Goalies Thomas Greiss and Robin Lehner had great season's. They've also played a combined 14 playoff games. Matt Murray has played in 44 over the last three season's and he won the cup twice as a rookie. The Penguins are better than the Islanders.
So here's what they can't do: play sloppy. Each of the three goals scored by the Rangers on Saturday were from turnovers or poor decisions. That can't happen against the best defensive team in hockey. Games will be close, the Pens need to allow their talent to make the difference in a positive way. Take the ice that's given. Look for the smart play, not the highlight reel play.
If they do that, they'll be fine. They'll do that.
PENS IN 5 or 6.
