Kris Letang Named Penguins’ ‘Last Men In' Candidate for the 2020 All-Star Game

For the second straight year, Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang has been named a ‘Last Men In’ candidate for the NHL All-Star Game.

Like last season, the final skater for each division will be chosen via fan voting to compete at the 2020 Honda NHL All-Star Weekend to be held January 24-25 at Enterprise Center in St. Louis.

In 30 games this season heading into Monday’s matchup with Ottawa, Letang has 26 points (10G-16A) and ranks third among Metropolitan Division defensemen in goals, fifth in assists, fourth in points, third in points-per-game (.87), and tied for second in power-play goals (3).

The 2020 NHL All-Star Last Men In presented by adidas will allow fans to select four players from a list of 31 All-Star caliber players - one from each NHL team. Voting for the Last Men In opens Wednesday, Jan. 1, at 12 p.m. ET and closes Friday, Jan. 10, at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Fans will be permitted to select as few as one player and a maximum of four players per ballot. The maximum number of ballots cast per 24-hour period for each fan is 10.

Here is how to vote starting on January 1:

NHL.com/Vote features interactive ballots available in eight languages - English, French, Czech, Finnish, German, Russian, Slovak and Swedish - and accessible anywhere in the world.

The NHL App offers fans a mobile interactive ballot that is available on most devices. Additionally, fans can join the conversation by using the official hashtag #NHLAllStar.

Letang is facing off against the following players in hopes of joining the Metropolitan Division roster for the three-game tournament, played in a 3-on-3 format: Teuvo Teravainen (CAR), Nick Foligno (CBJ), Nico Hischier (NJD), Brock Nelson (NYI), Mika Zibanejad (NYR), Claude Giroux (PHI), and T.J. Oshie (WAS).

Should Letang be voted into the All-Star Game by the fans, it will be the sixth selection of his career. That would surpass Hall-of-Famer Paul Coffey for the most All-Star selections by a defenseman in franchise history.

Earlier today, Penguins forward Jake Guentzel was selected to his first All-Star Game.
