You knew the Steelers were going to lose players in the off-season. But with the loss of each player (and contract restructuring), they gain cap room. But when they lose Chris Hubbard, they lost a valuable piece.
Also, what of these astronomical contracts being given to quarterbacks? Think Ben hasn't noticed? Mark Kaboly will join me at 1:20 to talk Steelers/NFL free agency, which begins today at 4pm.
The Penguins have won the Cup the last 2 years with Matt Murray in goal...some of the time. It was nice to have Marc-Andre Fleury to fill in when Murray was hurt, which was a lot during those playoff runs. You can't assume Murray will be healthy for all of a lengthy playoff run. So if he misses a few games...or a series, or multiple series, is the backup tandem of deSmith/Jarry good enough to win a playoff series if need be? I'll talk about that with Rob King at 12:20.
This is the 25th anniversary of the Jimmy V Foundation, created upon the death of Jim Valvano. A representative of the Foundation will join me at 1pm to talk about the good work they have done on behalf of the memory of the late coach.
