Diamondbacks Move Quickly To Replace J.D. Martínez

Diamondbacks general manager Mike Hazen is moving quickly to replace outfielder J.D. Martínez. Martínez decided to sign with the Red Sox for a longer deal than stay with the team that acquired him for the stretch run of last season.  Arizona added outfielder Jarrod Dyson on a two-year contract worth $7,500,000.  Dyson adds speed and defense to a group that was missing both despite the D'backs 93-and-69 record in 2017.  The final piece came from a three-team trade landing Steven Souza Junior in the "Desert."  The 28-year-old righty hit .239 with a .351 OBP, 30 home runs and 78 RBI for the Rays last year.  Dyson and Souza Junior will join A.J. Pollock, David Peralta and Yasmany Tomas in the new-look Arizona OF.

The main piece the "Snakes" traded in the deal was infielder Brandon Drury to the Yankees.
